Couples Counseling Session Two & Three-Are You Kidding Me?

If you didn't read yesterday's post
you should read it now-here.
It tells you about how we
started counseling.
Ready for Session Two?
(internet image)
Couple Number One
NEVER CAME BACK.
That left four couples.
Couple # 2 had BIG PROBLEMS.
Her:  HE loves his dog MORE THAN he loves me.
Him:  I do not! You blame that poor dog
for everything.
I don't love that dog more
than I love you!
Her:  Yes.You.Do.
Counselor/Lila:  Okay....here is your assignment for the week.
HIM, I want you to write a letter
to the dog AS IF you
are saying goodbye to Fido.
Now, You
DON'T HAVE TO GET RID OF FIDO,
but this will put it in perspective
for you and HER will know that you are sincere about your feelings for her
(and the dog).

Session Three:
Couselor/Lila:  HIM, could you please
read the letter you wrote to Fido?
HIM:  Dear HER, I know you won't
understand this but I can't bear
to part with Fido.
HE  came back with a
GOODBYE letter to his wife because
he couldn't bear to part with the dog.
(Once again- I started laughing and
could not quit)

They never came back.
Can you stand one final session?
Pop by tomorrow and read the
bitter end.

I am away all day every day this week but will try to play catch up at night when I get home.

Counseling-Session One- Are You Kidding Me?

Long, long ago in a place
of newly wedded bliss years
when we still looked like this
we found a group through church
that offered
COUPLES COUNSELING.
(internet image)
We were doing okay but thought
-what could it hurt-

Session One:
We start out with FIVE couples.

We go around the room and everyone
says 2 things they LIKE about their spouse.
MyHero: #1- Well, she is even-tempered-always the same
no big ups and downs.
#2- She has a great sense of humor.
Good-good- says Lila, the counselor.
Next we go around the room  and everyone
says 1 thing that "bothers" them about their spouse.
MyHero:  She thinks everything is funny.
(I stated laughing and could not stop-
matter of fact I am laughing as I type this)
Lila:  Isn't that a direct contradiction?
You said she has a great
sense of humor and now you say
she thinks everything is funny?
(I am still laughing out loud as she is talking)
MyHero-spluttering:  No! No!  In HER CASE
it is NOT a contradiction.
It went downhill from there.
Pop back by tomorrow for
Session Two

(I am away all day but will check in tonight and try to catch up)

Running For My Life

Sometimes you just get one of
THOSE PICTURES.
One that as soon as  you take it you
have to run into the bathroom
with  your camera so it
doesn't get smashed.
See what I mean?
It is a little blurry because he
was onto me before the shutter clicked...
still and all....
SweetCheeks:    What are you doing, Papa?
Papa: Warming up.
SweetCheeks: (giggling) Make shure you
don't catch youhr underware on fihre like
you dihd when you drhied it in the micrhowave.
I wrote about it here when I was a new blogger.
Yep- So, As you can see-
MyHero is still pretty
HOT STUFF!

(Bear with me~I am away every day all week but
will try to catch up when I get home at night)

SweetCheeks The Critic-American Idol

I have learned to never ask
SweetCheeks
anything where I don't want
 an honest answer.
Sometimes, I don't even
NEED TO ASK.
Take the case of American Idol.

I don't know what ANY of
their real names are.
Why?
Because we have our own
set of names.
We have:
BoyGirl
SweetCheeks:  Thass a boy.
Me: Nope-That's a girl
SC:  Nana-Put your glasses on-that's a boy!
Me:  Her name is Kez.
SC: See~I told you that was a boy-
Kez is a BOY NAME.

Okay- giving up on that one.
Next up:
GirlyBoy
SC:  Thatss a boy?
Me:  Yes! That's a boy.
SC:  Well, he sings kinda like a gurhl and he has gurhly hair.
Me:  HIS name is Rickey.
SC:  See? hahahaha  Ricki is a gurhl's name, Nana.

Okay-giving up on that one, too.
Next up:
Stoopid
SC:  Is that a boy or a girl?
Me:  I honestly don't know anything anymore.
SC: They (him/her?) is Stoopid
Me:  SweetCheeks it is NOT nice to call
someone stupid!
SC:  Ohkay!  I'm sorry, Ohkay?  Do I  hafta take a time out?
Me:  No , because you said you were sorry you don't have to take a time out-
just don't say someone is stupid.
SC:  How come?
Me:  Because it's not nice.
SC:  No!  I mean how come I dohn't hafta take a time out.
Yesterday I hadda take a time out when I was home
cuz I was REALLY sassy.
Me:  What did you do?
SC:  I said YOU were stoopid.
*sigh*
Can't win here-I just can't win.
If  you are interested in more
SweetCheeks opinions just text in her
birthday-1129
I'm sure you will get an earful.
As for me-
I am going to watch something
that doesn't require an opinion....
like the weather.

Bear with me~ I am away every day
this week but will try to catch up
at night when I get home.

Baptizing The Baby

I know I have showed this
Christening Gown
 to you before.
I made it when I was pregnant
with my first daughter and now
our newest baby grandson
CJK
has been baptized in it.
He is number 14 to have
been christened in it.
The lace is Irish and is from
my grandmother's sewing supplies.
The stitching is all satin stitch
and I had 72 hours going down
one side of the overcoat.
We were not able to be
here for the Christening
but we did get some pictures.
This was on FaceBook
so I can show it here.
I usually do not post pictures
of this grandson and I never
post pictures of my
daughter-in-love
because of her job with
the federal government.
Look how cute this boyo is
Look how proud his Daddy is!
Are those the cutest cheeks you ever saw?
The baby cheeks not the
big boy cheeks!

The gown is all hand embroidered and
each child that has been baptized in it
has their name and birthdate
stitched along the tucking at
the bottom of the gown.
Here is the sweet little onesie that
slips under it.
I am so blessed to have
grandbabies to fill this gown!
And say....
While I am thinking about it-
I think they need to feed this baby,
don't you?
Couldn't you just kiss that little face off?
Have a blessed Sunday!

Cheater's Creamy Cheesy Cauliflower Soup

Are you a cheater?
Does your spouse or significant other know?
C'mon- Now is the time to fess up!

 I admit it.
I am a cheater.
Well, maybe not in the way
that you think!
My family thinks I slave away for hours
preparing my super delicious (ahem) meals.
Well,  I am here to tell you that
sometimes cheating is a
GOOD THING.
Seriously!
Take the case of
Creamy Cheesy Cauliflower Soup
Do I start with a fresh head of cauliflower?
Do I wash it and cut it and steam it?
No! I! Do! Not!
This is how I start MY SOUP!
Ha!
I microwave it as per instructions on the package.
While that is microwaving
I take 1/3 cup of butter and melt it
in a sauce pan.
Then I stir in 1/3 cup flour with a whisk.
After stirring for a few minutes
I add 2 cups of milk and
2 cups of chicken broth
2 Tablespoons of onion flakes.
and cook and stir for about 5 minutes
until thickened.
While that is cooking I put the bag of
Cheesy Cauliflower in the blender
and process until smooth-
(We like ours a bit chunky).
Then throw it into the crockpot
along with the soup mixture from the pot.
Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar and
cook on low until cheese is completely melted.

This is SO good on a cold winter's day.
If you want it even thicker
you can stir a few
dried potato flakes into the crockpot.
You will get rave reviews.

Ladle it up and throw a
few cut up green onions on top
to make it purdy!
Serve with a side salad and crusty bread.
Listen, make sure you throw a little
water on your forehead so that it
looks like you have been slaving
over a hot stove all day.
It really gives you a lot more
credibility....
not that
I would ever do anything like THAT!

Here's the recipe:

Cheesy Creamy Cauliflower Soup
Micowave 1 family size bag of 3 cheese cauliflower veggies
While that is microwaving:
Melt 1/3 cup butter
Stir in 1/3 cup flour (I use Wondra but reg flour will do)
Slowly add: 2 cups Swanson’s Chicken Broth
                    2 cups milk (or ½ and ½ )
Stir in:  2 Tablespoons onion flakes (or onion powder to taste)
Cook for a few minutes until thickened and bubbly
Using blender- puree bag of cheesy cauliflower then put in crockpot
Add soup mixture from stove top
Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Cook on low until cheese is melted and ready to serve
If you want thicker soup stir in potato flakes until you reach desired consistency

Father Daughter Dance Sweet Cheeks And Company

When Lulu started kindergarten
my daughter and a couple of
her friends thought it would
be nice to start a new tradition.
That tradition was a
Father Daughter Dance.
Lulu is in 5th grade this year.
Six years of dances for her.
Four Years of Dances for Ria.
Three Years of Dances for SweetCheeks.
No Dad at home? No problem!
You can come with an Uncle,
a big brother, a surrogate dad
or a family friend.

This is the first year that I missed
being here for the big night.
But my daughter took some pictures
at her house when the girls
were dolled up and ready to go.

Here they are with their Daddy.
Isn't he a handsome Daddy?
Aren't they sweet?
One with Lulu & Daddy.
One with Ria & Daddy.
One with SweetCheeks & Daddy.
Uncle Jason was SweetCheeks date
but I don't have a picture of them together.
Here is~The dynamic duo.
Okay-Girls!
Let's take a really nice picture
for Nana, Okay?
1-2-3
Ready?
Thanks!
Thanks So Much!
Remember your mother telling you
that old saying about
your face freezing that way?
Yeah-
Well, now these faces are
forever frozen in time.
What beauts!
You make a Nana SO proud!

Romantic Homes March 2013 Review

With all that was going on last month
I did not get a chance to do my
monthly review.
I am back on track now though.
As usual, the March cover is beautiful.
Sorry the cover is a little skewed-
that's what happens when you drink and blog.
Haha-Y'all KNOW I don't drink
so it just goes to show you that I am to
lazy to do a retake!

As most of you know,
 the front pages of each
Romantic Homes
highlights some bloggers.
My blog features blogs that I personally follow.

First up this month:
If you don't know her you are missing
one very sweet, lovely lady.
AND-she is super talented to boot.
Then there is
Their collections are amazing and they
are both great gals.
You will love love love
Wait till you see her sweet little Rosetta
AND her photography!
Further along in the magazine
is a special project.
I love this sweet little floral based blog.
She has a book published now. WhooHoo!
And last, but not least,
our French-loving blogger
has a full five page spread of her home.
It is gorgeous!
There is lots more to see
in the March issue of Romantic Homes.
It is the one subscription I can't seem
to let go.
Well then-there you have it.
Whew-That was a lotta work....
I think I need a break!
I'll be back when I sober up.........

President's Day Cherry Cheese Pie

The other day as I was visiting
some of my favorite blogs
I came across this recipe
on Beth Marie's Blog.

It looked like the perfect
dessert for President's Day.
After all wasn't
George Washington noted for
cutting down a cherry tree
and then NOT LYING about
cutting it down?
Well, thank you, I am honoring
good old Georgie's honesty,
by whipping up this pie.
I didn't have a graham cracker crust
so I made my own.
Here's my super-duper easy
recipe for a perfect pie crust.
Shhhhh-It's a secret-
While the crust cooled
I whipped up the cream cheese,
 and added the Eagle brand
condensed sweetened milk.
I then added the lemon juice
Yes! You MUST add lemon juice-
it is what makes it SET-
and the Cool Whip.
Of course I added a liberal tablespoon
of vanilla.

I wish I could lie and say this is
Calorie Free but someone
called me to task for my post
about my
I think the inference was that I might
go to Hell for lying!;<(
So, for today, I am walking the
straight and narrow, cuz
I don't like HOT!
No. I. Don't!

Ps.  SweetCheeks told me the other day
that the shorter you are the closer
you are to Hell!  LOL~
~except for babies- babies don't count
cuz babies can't go to Hell.
Thank you for that information, SweetCheeks.
I said-well, you are still pretty short.
I guess it goes by age because she
informed me that she is the
tallest one in her room.
Whew!
I am gonna start hanging out with
the Munchkins if  can find them~

Here's the recipe:

Easy Cherry Cheese Pie-Beth Marie

•8 inch graham cracker crust
•8 ounce pkg cream cheese softened
•14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
•1/3 cup bottled lemon juice
•1 tub of cool whip
•1 can cherry pie filling chilled (may use strawberry or blueberry)

Beat cream cheese till light and fluffy. Gradually beat in condensed milk. Stir in lemon juice and a teaspoon of vanilla (optional). Fold in whipped topping. Pour into crust. Chill at least two hours. Top with pie filling before serving.

Have a happy Tuesday!

SweetCheeks Slugs It Out At School

I pick SweetCheeks up after
school.
We have an hour to kill while
waiting for Mom
How was your day, SweetCheeks
Before she can answer
her sister pipes up.
SweetCheeks got in trouble today.
You did?
She gives me the
I Love You, Nana grin and nods.
DID you get in trouble today?
NOH- Noht really, Nana!
Now comes the coy look~
Tell me what happened.
Whew- Must be getting warm in here.
Gotta take off the coat.
So....what happened?
Uhmmmmmmm....wellllll.............
Sometimes it is easier to tell the
story to yourself in the mirror
rather than to face the Nana.
Wellll.....iht's lihke thissss!
I hitt a boy.
What?  You hit a boy?
Yehp!
And THEN he hitted me bachk
and so did his two friends
and I started crying!
OMGosh!  What did your teacher say?
He asked me why I hitted him.
What did YOU say?
I told him I hitted him and
I said it was because he was
RHUDE AND DISREPECKTFUL
cuz he throwed my ball in the
waste basket.
What did your teacher say?
He just smiled and thurned away.
Then he said I wusn't gonna get in
eny truble.
Then what?
Nothing...but I think those bohys
shoulda got in truble for
hitting me!

No MORE hitting ANYONE,
SweetCheeks.  That is NOT NICE-
AND hitting someone is  also
RUDE and DISRECTFUL
Pfffffftttt...
I KNOW THAT, Nana!
Nana-
Yes, honey?
Did you see that lady's nose over there?
It's so big I bet she has a hard time driving!

Lord, please keep me from
choking to death in
Starbucks.

No Calorie Chocolate Cake

When I saw this recipe on
Cathy's blog- Cobblestone Farms
I thought it
LOOKED GOOD.
In fact, it looked SO GOOD
that I whipped it up that afternoon.
It made a wonderful little
Valentine's Day treat.
sent me the candle!;>)
The only changes I made to
this recipe was to add
 an extra teaspoon of vanilla
to the cake AND the frosting.
AND~ I, being a bit weird,
poked holes in the top of
the cake so the icing could
drip down inside.
I can't remember how many
years it has been since I
made a Bundt cake.......
a   l-o-n-g   time!
LOOK at that icing!
A maraschino cherry fills each hole.
 Oh-So-Good.
Pop by Cobblestone Farms blog
for the recipe.
You'll be glad you did.

Ps.  Now, make sure everyone else eats
at least TWO BIG pieces.
Remember my motto:
The fatter THEY look the skinnier YOU look
standing next to them!

PPS- I mighta lied about the
NO CALORIE part~
